The Wood

The carefully selected, long dead, mellow wood that Tony gathers from the wild country hills and moors of the Scottish Highlands is brought back to his country workshop and thoroughly dried. Once this process is complete, the wood is carefully and skilfully handcrafted in order to bring out and enhance the character that the wood has acquired over the years. He gently takes away the softer, surface wood leaving the hard grain with knots and natural fissures. Each wooden mirror frame is then handmade with care and individual attention so ensuring that every mirror Tony completes is different and distinct and will enhance any room in which it is placed.

The wood frames of the mirrors are as nature intended so please expect variations in the grain and colour. Some wood will have acquired natural splits and crevices brought about with passing of time. These add interest and character. Each mirror is unique and handmade to a high professional standard of craftsmanship.

If you prefer a flat, smooth finish rather than a ‘raised grain’ finish to the wood this too can be supplied.

Our designs come in light, medium and dark wood and are normally hand-finished with wax polish. Should you want a special size or style of mirror to suit your home or to be made as a gift, please phone, 01667 455869, or e-mail us and we will do our best to help you.
